BIO-NOTES

Esterino ADAMI

is an Associate professor of English Language, Translation and Linguistics at the University of Turin (Department of Humanities). Esterino Adami's research areas include critical stylistics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, varieties of English, and postcolonial discourse. He has published on ideology and sensory representation in ecological texts, the conceptualisation of metaphors for English in India, and the semantic and pragmatic aspects of food discourse. He is the author of Postcolonial Stylistics (2025), Language, Style and Variation in Contemporary Indian English Literary Texts (2022), and Railway Discourse. Linguistic and Stylistic Representations of the Train in the Anglophone World (2018). He has also co-edited Eco-Speak. Language and Style in Ecological Discourse (2025, with A. Beville).

Elisa ALONSO JIMÉNEZ

is a researcher and lecturer at undergraduate and postgraduate level at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, of Seville (Spain). She holds a PhD in Communication Studies from the Universidad de Sevilla (2014-2015 Extraordinary PhD award), and a BA in Translating and Interpreting from the Universidad de Granada. Her main research interest focuses on the impacts of technology on translation and other forms mediation on professional contexts and on society. Elisa Alonso is a member of the GITTCUS (HUM384) research group, from the Universidad de Sevilla.

Miguel Ángel BERNAL MERINO

teaches translation and interpreting at ULPGC in Spain. He also works as a localisation consultant, translator and interpreter for the ever-growing multimedia interactive entertainment software industry, having authored several top-ranking publications on these topics. He was the convener and manager of the European Master in Translation at the University of Roehampton LONDON, where he worked closely with Graduate School to foster and mentor new doctoral researchers. He is the founder and host of many international events about video game and media localisation, such as Game Global, Media Across Borders, GDC Localization Summit, etc.

Daniel CABEZA-CAMPILLO

Daniel is a PhD Student in Translation and Transcultural Studies at the University of Warwick. His doctoral project aims to provide an in-depth and interdisciplinary analysis of how Brexit-related metaphors have been translated in the news from English into Spanish (BBC News and BBC Mundo, The Guardian and elDiario.es) and Spanish into English (El País and El País English Edition) from 2016 to 2022. Daniel was Teaching Associate in Translation Studies with Spanish at Aston University, Career Development Fellow in Spanish at the University of Oxford and Spanish Evening Tutor at the University of East Anglia.

Mirko CASAGRANDA

is Associate Professor of English Linguistics and Translation Studies at the University of Calabria. His areas of interest include onomastics, critical discourse studies, postcolonial studies, and translation studies. He has published articles on gender and translation, ecocritical discourse analysis, multiculturalism and multilingualism in Canada, place and trade names. He has edited the volume Names and Naming in the Postcolonial English-Speaking World (2018) and authored the books Traduzione e codeswitching come strategie discorsive del plurlinguismo canadese (2010) and Strategie di naming nel paesaggio linguistico canadese (2013).

Flavia CAVALIERE

is Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Naples Federico II and Italian Fulbright Distinguished Scholar at the University of Pittsburgh, PA, US. She has been awarded habilitation for Full Professorship, and she is a member of the Executive Board of the University Language Centre (CLA) and is in charge of "EuroEnglish Area" within ED LUPT Centre "Antenna" University of Naples Federico II, where she has also taken part in several interdisciplinary research projects. She is a member of editorial boards and a referee for international peer-reviewed journals. Her research interests lie within the fields of Translation Studies, mainly in the fields of Audiovisual Translation and Cross-cultural Communication; Cultural Linguistics; Language and Media; Multimodality and Critical Discourse Analysis (particularly within Appraisal Framework Theory); Multilingualism; English for Special (Academic) Purposes (ESAP). Her most recent volumes include Thought for Food (2019), Euromosaic,a Still Open Challenge (2019), and Translation and Migration –Narratives of a Transition (2017).

Irena CIOBANU

Irena Ciobanu is a PhD candidate at the West University of Timișoara, Romania, where she has been pursuing her doctoral studies since 2023. For the past seven years, she has been working at the Politehnica University of Timișoara as an International Officer, coordinating staff weeks, welcome days, and a variety of international academic events. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Romanian and English Language and Literature in 2015 followed by a Master's degree in International and European Integration, both at the West University of Timișoara. Her current research has been presented at several international conferences and academic events, reflecting her ongoing interest in discourse analysis and educational marketing language.

Florentin CRĂINEANU

has been an assistant professor at the Victor Babeș University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timișoara since 2023 (as an associate professor in the 2023-2024 academic year, currently as a full professor), where he teaches English and French, general and medical language. He graduated in 2009 from the Faculty of Letters, History, and Theology, English-French section, at the West University of Timișoara. Subsequently, he completed a master's program in psychology, which complemented and deepened his psycho-pedagogical skills and interest in student welfare. She is currently a doctoral student in the field of Philological Studies at the Doctoral School of Humanities at the West University of Timișoara, under the coordination of Prof. Daniel Dejica-Carțiș. Her research activity focuses on the implementation and development of modern methods of teaching modern languages to students in the medical field.

To date, his publishing activity has resulted in the publication of two articles in extenso as co-author (one article in the ISI stream and one in the BDI stream), as well as the presentation of nine oral communications at national and international conferences (Romania, Serbia, Spain, Republic of Moldova, Lithuania, Italy) and four workshops.

Giuseppe DE BONIS

is a researcher in English Language and Translation at Ca' Foscari University of Venice (Italy). After graduating in Communication Studies at the University of Bologna, where he specialised in film studies and sociology, he obtained an MA in Screen Translation from the University of Bologna at Forlì. He subsequently earned a PhD in Translation, Interpreting and Intercultural Studies from the same university. His research interests include translation theory and practice, audiovisual translation (particularly dubbing), the representation and translation of multilingualism in cinema, film and media studies, (inter)cultural and humour studies, multimodal discourse analysis, and tourism communication. He is a member of the local research unit within the PRIN 2020 DIETALY project, coordinated by Ca' Foscari University, which focuses on the diachronic analysis of English-translated materials for the promotion of Italy as a tourist destination.

Robin DONADIO

is a PhD student at the University "G. d'Annunzio" of Chieti–Pescara. His work focuses on Social Media Critical Discourse Studies, and multimodal communication, with a focus on political and environmental content. A bilingual Italian–British researcher, he has professional experience in environmental and community projects in both Italy and the UK, and teaches B2-level English courses. He earned his MA in International Cooperation from the University of Bologna with a thesis on climate change and community-building practices to counter it. He recently worked on multimodal representations of LGBTQI+ families on TikTok, presenting research entitled "Performing family on TikTok: Multimodal discourses of lesbian motherhood and IVF" at the 32nd AIA conference in Torino

Abderrahim ELJAZOUL

is a PhD candidate at Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco), researching humour translation and cultural cognition in audiovisual media. His work explores the intersection of linguistic complexity, audience reception, and cognitive strategies in English-Arabic subtitling. With publications in the International Journal of Language and Literary Studies and presentations at international conferences, he combines expertise in translation technology, intercultural communication, and empirical audience analysis. As an adjunct professor (ENCG Marrakech), he teaches applied linguistics and research methodology. His research aims to optimize cross-cultural media accessibility through cognitively informed subtitling practices.

Roberto ESPOSITO

holds a PhD in Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies at the University of Naples L'Orientale, obtained with a dissertation in English Language and Linguistics that investigates processes of meaning-making and social representation in drag queens' identity construction and negotiation, with a focus on the TV show RuPaul's Drag Race. Currently, he is adjunct professor of English Language for International Relations and English Linguistics for Comparative Languages and Cultures. His research interests mainly concern cases of social semiotics and intersectionality, observed through the lenses of Stylistics, Multimodality, and Critical Discourse Analysis.

Ekaterine GACHECHILADZE

PhD in Linguistics, is an Associate Professor and Vice-Rector at Akaki Tsereteli State University, Georgia. She has published extensively on morphological categories, syntax, phraseology, narrative structures, multilingual education, communicative discourse, and the language of contemporary media, including internet communication. Actively involved in AUF and Erasmus+ international projects, she regularly participates in international scientific conferences.

Andrea GAGGIOLI

Ph.D, is Full Professor of General Psychology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, where he directs the Centre for Research in Psychology of Communication (PsiCom) and the International Master in User Experience Psychology (UXP). His research focuses on the psychology of media, immersive technologies, and positive technology, with particular attention to how digital and virtual environments transform cognition, emotion, and human experience. He has coordinated several national and European projects on digital health, education, and creativity, and has published extensively on presence, virtual reality, and the transformative role of media.

Polina GAVIN

is Teaching Fellow in Stylistics at Aston University (Birmingham, UK) and Research Assistant on the project Writing and Reading the Pandemic (PI-Dr Marcello Giovanelli) which investigates the ways covid poetry can help us understand and reflect on the experiences of the covid-19 pandemic. Working in cognitive stylistics and language studies, Polina is interested in applying research to real-world contexts and contributing to participatory research initiatives in public arts spaces.

Jelena KIREJEVA

has been working at Vilnius university, the Faculty of Philology since 1997. She defended her PhD thesis in 2021. Since February 2023 Jelena has been a postdoctoral fellow at Kaunas University of Technology. Research interests: cognitive linguistics, cultural linguistics, pragmatics, computer-mediated discourse analysis.

Meki LOBZHANIDZE

PhD, is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Vice-Rector at Akaki Tsereteli State University, Georgia. He has published extensively on philosophical anthropology, social Philosophy, History of Georgian Philosophical Thought, and the philosophy of language. He is actively involved in various international projects and regularly participates in international scientific conferences and symposiums.

Andrea LOMBARDINILO

is an Associate Professor in Sociology of cultural and communicative processes at Roma Tre University, where he teaches Sociology of education and Sociology of communication. His interests include sociology of higher education and academic environments, with a focus on innovation reform and institutional communication within the university system. Furthermore, he carries out research and sociology of risk and sociology of literature, with particular reference to the media and symbolic representations of modern identity. He carried out institutional and research activities at the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR). Among his volumes are: The Lure of Communication: Sociology Through Rhetoric (Springer, 2024); Università in democrazia. Habermas e lo spazio della comunicazione accademica (University in Democracy: Habermas and the Space of Academic Communication) (Mimesis 2019); McLuhan and Symbolist Communication: The Shock of Dislocation (PeterLang, 2017).

Giulia MAGAZZÙ

obtained a PhD in English Studies at the University of Rome Tor Vergata where she now works as a tenure-track researcher in English linguistics and translation. From 2016 to 2024 she worked as adjunct lecturer and post-doc research fellow in English linguistics and translation at "Gabriele d'Annunzio" University of Chieti-Pescara. Her areas of research are translation studies, audiovisual translation, critical discourse analysis. In 2020 she published a book on the multimodal translation of musicals and in 2022 she published her second monograph about the translation of multilingual tv series.

Carla MANNO

holds degrees in Languages from the University of Naples "L'Orientale" and in Performing Arts and Multimedia Production from the Academy of Fine Arts, Naples. She is currently in the first year of her PhD in Linguistic, Terminological and Intercultural Studies at the University of Naples 'Parthenope', moving into her second year in November 2025. Her doctoral project explores cinematic representations of masculinities, with a particular focus on soft masculinities, drawing on multimodality, metaphor theory, and affect theory. Her broader research interests include Masculinity Studies, Queer Studies, Postcolonial and Decolonial Studies, Media Studies, and Cinema.

Francesco MELEDANDRI

holds a PhD in Translation Theory and Praxis: European Intercultural Studies awarded by University of Bari (2011). He has been appointed Research Fellow at University of Bari (Department of Humanities) in 2022. His research interests focus on both language and translation issues covering different topics; furthermore, he has been analysing the growing interest towards communication via social networking platforms in order to retrieve real-time, aggregated bulk of data aimed at investigation of micro- and macro-features of language. Other research areas include Translation Studies, CAT Tools, Machine Translation, and Human-Machine forms of interaction, especially in communication- and language-based terms.

Michaela QUADRARO

is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English Language and Translation at the University of Calabria. Her current research areas include identity, ethnic and gender diversity, and strategies of resistance, examined through the lens of Multimodal Critical Discourse Analysis.

José Antonio ROSADO TERRERO

is a PhD student at the University of Pablo de Olavide (UPO) specializing in translation and new technologies. He holds a double degree in English Studies and French Studies from the University of Cádiz (UCA), and a master's degree in International Communication, Translation and Interpreting from Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Sevilla). He currently works in the Department of Philology and Translation at UPO as a Research Assistant, complementing his education with studies in Multiplatform App Development. He is also a member of the GITTCUS (HUM384) research group, from the Universidad de Sevilla.

Eleonora SASSO

is an Associate Professor in English at the "G. d'Annunzio" University of Chieti-Pescara (Italy). Her major research fields include the Pre-Raphaelites, sociability, cognitive linguistics, literary and audiovisual translation, as well as Canadian studies. She is the editor of the volume Minority Languages and Cultures in Audiovisual Translation (Routledge, 2025) and is the author of four monographs, the most recent being The Pre-Raphaelites and Orientalism: Language and Cognition in Remediations of the East (Edinburgh University Press). She is a regional coordinator for the Italian Association for English Studies (AIA) and a member of The Digital Encyclopaedia of European Sociability (DIGITENS), a European H2020 research and innovation project, funded by the European Commission under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant Agreement no. 823863. She is the co- editor of a book series entitled "Universale" published by Biblion (advisory board members include Giuseppe Balirano, Carlo Bajetta, Susan Bassnett, Frederic Chaume Varela, Delia Chiaro, Jorge Díaz-Cintas, Tim Parks, and Sherry Simon) and is an advisory board member of the following scientific journals: CounterText, and English Studies at NBU.

Agis SIDERAS

was born in 1974 as the son of Greek parents in Göttingen, West Germany. He studied German Language and Literature as well as Philosophy at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, where he graduated with a PhD about the poetics of Paul Celan and Gottfried Benn. He is the co-recipient of the Greek State Prize for Translation into a Foreign Language 2007 and was shortlisted for the same prize in 2020.. He works between the fields of Comparative Literature, Philosophy and Translation Studies.

Eleni TIMPLALEXI

Laboratory Lecturing Staff member (E.E.P.), NTLab, Department of Communication and Media Studies, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. She teaches modules tracing the intersections between Performance, Digital Media, Theatre, Communication and Games. Collaborating post doc researcher with Linnaeus University Centre for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies, Sweden. She holds a post doc (2015-2017) in Digital Media and Theatre, Department of Theatre Studies, NKUA (IKY Fellowship of Excellence for postgraduate studies in Greece-Siemens Program), where she also completed her PhD with an IKY scholarship. Also, Alexander C. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation Scholar in Theatre Practice (2005-07). Awarded playwright, theatre director and artist. Artistic director of UtopiArt (2002-08) and co-founder of Magenta Artistic Collaboration (2011). She collaborates with Spatial Media Research Group. She publishes articles in international peer-reviewed journals and presents papers in national and international conferences. Recently, a winner of the MEA award "The Walter Benjamin Award for Outstanding Article in the Field of Media Ecology" (2025).

Sonja TRZIN BERTA

is an EU-accredited freelance conference interpreter primarily working with the EU institutions. She is currently a PhD candidate in the "Linguistics and Media Studies" programme at the University of Innsbruck. Her research centres on the intersection of interpreting, media representation, and digital communication, with a focus on preparation for assignments, new media, AI, and digital literacy. Combining practical experience and academic inquiry, she investigates the cognitive and media-related challenges faced by interpreters today. She is committed to advancing understanding of interpreting as a profession in the context of evolving digital communication environments.

Yvonne TSAI

is Professor of Translation Studies in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University. She lectures on MTPE and AI-assisted translation, translation project management, legal translation, and drama translation. She is the author of Translating University Regulations (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2024), and her recent publications include "Tuning Language and Lyrics: A Case Study of Song Translation in the Translator Training Classroom" (The Interpreter and Translator Trainer, 2025), "Translation Politics and Terminology in University Regulations" (Routledge, 2025), and "Translators' manipulation of texts: the case of children's books on gender equality" (Perspectives, 2022).

Isabella WETSON

is a Doctoral Researcher at Aston University, UK. She is currently in her second year working on her PhD project entitled 'The Pedagogical Application of Cognitive Grammar' supervised by Marcello Giovanelli. Isabella is proud to be part of the Aston Stylistics Research Group (ASRG) and recently directed the first 'Stylistics in Education' symposium. Prior to her PhD, Isabella gained her Undergraduate degree in Linguistics from the University of Manchester, and MPhil in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics from the University of Cambridge.
